Most of the products described in this section of the website were designed and developed after extensive research in the course of the CORRUGATION project. They were all tested and validated to be effective against corrugation development.
Research in the course of the project indicated the importance of the quantification and measurement of existing corrugation. Also the importance of the quality of the grinding process was stressed. An easy to use Rail Surface Analyser was developed for this purpose and is now commercially available:

Apart from safety aspects, the project illustrated the importance of the tolerances on wheel profiles as they can lead to excessive corrugation. Therefore it is important to monitor wheel profiles:

Continuous vertically very soft and horizontally very rigid embedded rail was demonstrated to be very effective against corrugation. A special track was designed and is now commercially available on the market:

Very resilient rail fasteners were demonstrated to be very effective against corrugation. In order to be effective the vertical dynamic fastener stiffness has to be below 10kN/mm. A special fastener was developed to cope with classic limitations with this type of fastener and is now commercially available on the market:

Top of Rail lubrication has demonstrated to reduce the friction forces (up to factor 2) and can therefore be very effective against corrugation. A special application device with specific lubrication fluids which can be applied in minimal quantities and which are based upon the use of teflon avoids the classical side effects (oil spilling).
